it's one for the books

today was really awesome so im gonna get it all down because today is one for the books (:

we went family friend visiting, then headed to my grandma's and ate and ate and ate! had yummy chocolate cake, fried nian gao (it's the nicest nian gao based food item ever!) and my grandma cooked a really great dinner for us too (:

we played lots of bridge and taiti, i managed to have some rare one on one time with my daddy when we went to get a voice recorder on account of me missing so many lectures soon, (what can i say, im my daddy's girl!), my brother complimented me on my driving, saying that my speed is fine now and that my braking is pretty good, and even told everyone that :D and we all took turns taking the blood pressure of everyone in the house as well as listening to heartbeats (:

so much funny stuff happened during bridge and bp taking! and now my dad, brothers and baby cousin are all bridge converts (: oh and my daddy, the game playing extraordinaire says im the best at bridge! :D haha. probably has something to do with the amount of practice i've had both in secondary school and jc!

we used the sphygomomanometer with the mercury column for bp measurement so it required skillz to get the right readings, cuz you gotta listen to the stethoscope and catch the reading as the mercury level is falling. lol. xian and i take for the same person at best +/- 2 units diff from each other, and then my baby cousin's reading will be like 10+ units more or less than ours! lol. the SD is so large. either that or she'll circle a range on the column with her finger indicating where the reading lies. at one point, my baby cousin put the stethoscope on xian's back and obviously didnt hear anything, and declared that she wasn't breathing. LOL. what a quack :D my gong gong just sat at the side and laughed so hard at our antics cuz we (not xian, obviously) did dumb things like stick the ear part of the stethoscope into our ears the wrong way. he's the pro cuz he monitors his own by himself everyday! my mum suggested that the next time we break out the microscope (which we really do have at my grandma's too), and i can put all my mircobio techniques to good use! LOL.

and i heard my own heartbeat :D how exciting is that! although i totally couldn't find it at first, xian had to locate it for me but i heard all 4 spots :D so yup! just in case anybody has any doubts, i definitely have a heart and it's beating ;)

all in all, today was definitely one of those rare,really awesome days (: and it's also proof that even though im still standing in the midst of a storm, the sun still breaks through the clouds once in awhile (: so that's why im writing it down so i dont forget that! and also cuz today was really great la. haha. it may not sound like everybody's idea of fun exactly, but i know i definitely enjoyed today through and through (:
